It is with both sadness and joy that SLTV announces the closing of the television show "Lutherans ALIVE!". While there is sadness in knowing the weekly, local television series has come to an end, we are absolutely delighted to have had a terrific three-year run. "Smile" is the fitting theme for the closing show #83 to be aired on September 9 and again on October 14, 2006.
From its first show produced in August 2003, this local lay-led television outreach ministry of Lutheran volunteers has been totally Holy Spirit directed and funding found its way to support the ministry. Now with production costs at $300 per show sponsorships have been unable to keep up. There is a time for everything and surely "Lutherans ALIVE!" has been a tool of the Lord's as He touched many hearts through the show and its cast. For this we are most grateful.
On behalf of our faithful lead cast Dixie Schneider, Gary Olson, Jim Jordan, our devotional pastors Frank Espegren, Kay Doyle, Walt Tietjen, Steve Krogh and our strong support team, we say "thank-you" to everyone who has played a part in making this ministry of love possible. We began with a dream of a 13 week series and no guarantee of funding. The dream resulted in taping 83 shows and each show aired twice. "Lutherans ALIVE!" came into viewers' homes every Saturday evening on cable television for over three years. That is truly amazing!
Heartfelt appreciation is also extended to the excellent staff of Sacramento's Religious Coalition of Cable Television (RCCTV) without which our ministry could not have happened. All "Lutherans ALIVE!" television shows will also continue to be shown on the Internet website www.SLTV.org for your viewing pleasure.
Our greater Sacramento area Lutheran family of congregations has a stronger bond today as a result of "Lutherans ALIVE!" and for this we are especially thankful. As our fun-filled and devoted team of Dixie and Gary would say...
...God loves you and so we! God Bless!
