sad news

Posted: Thursday, May 22, 2003

It is with great sadness that we share with you the news of the death of our brother in Christ, Dr. Timothy F. Lull. Dr. Lull died Tuesday afternoon of complication from prostate surgery. Please remember his wife, Mary Carlton, and the entire Lull family in your prayers.

Bishop Mullen and Pastor Meginness joined the PLTS community in a prayer service Wednesday. The service was planned by PLTS students. Bishop Murray Fink, Pacifica Synod and a member of the PLTS Board, brought greetings from Presiding Bishop Hanson. Many representatives from the seminaries of the Graduate Theological Union also attended the service.

The funeral service for Dr. Lull will be Sunday, May 25th at 4:30 PM in the PLTS Chapel.

There will be two viewing times: Saturday, May 24 in the PLTS Great Hall from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, and on Sunday, May 25 in the PLTS Chapel from 3:30 to 4:15 PM. Clergy are invited to vest and process. The color of the day is white.

Rev. Richard Koenig, former editor of "Partners" magazine shared the following prayer when he announced Dr. Lull's death to the New England Synod.

Lord God, God of life, God of hope, God of pity, as you have drawn Tim to yourself so suddenly, we beg you to draw Mary Carlton, Peter, Christopher and Tyler and all the Lull family to yourself also. Surround them with your love. Be with them in their grieving. Help them to bear this terrible blow. Give us your presence and grace also as we stand stunned and mute before our loss. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord have mercy. We loved him so.

"crux tua, spes una."
